We are hiring for our client, a highly reputable organisation based in Ballymena, who are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join their finance function on a full-time, permanent basis. This role would suit someone with solid transactional finance experience who enjoys working in a busy, supportive environment and is keen to take ownership of their workload.

Key Responsibilities – What You’ll Be Doing:

As Finance Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day and long-term financial operations. Your main duties will include:

  • Managing client, office, and deposit bank accounts, including close monitoring and supervision
  • Reconciliation of bank statements across multiple accounts on a regular basis
  • End-to-end handling of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Processing BACs payments, cheques, bank lodgements and direct customer payments (via phone and electronically)
  • Recording and maintaining financial data — ensuring finance records are up to date and accurately reflected on internal systems
  • Checking, posting, and coding of bills and invoices, ensuring they align with internal procedures
  • Supporting the preparation of cashflow forecasts, KPIs, and financial reports (daily, monthly and at year-end)
  • Assisting with year-end accounts and audit preparation to ensure compliance and accuracy

The Person:

The ideal candidate for this Finance Assistant job will have:

  • Previous experience in a similar finance or accounts assistant role (essential)
  • Strong IT skills, including MS Excel and finance software (Sage, QuickBooks or similar)
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • A positive, can-do attitude and ability to work under pressure
  • AAT qualification or working towards (desirable but not essential)
