Job Title: Quality Manager / Quality Lead
Location: Mitchelstown, Co. Cork
Salary: €40,000 - €45,000 (DOE)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role:

We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Quality Manager/Lead to join a Food Manufacturing client at their food manufacturing facility in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety, product quality, and compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong agricultural or farming background, bringing practical, hands-on experience to quality processes and an understanding of the farm-to-factory supply chain.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) functions across the manufacturing site.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality systems in compliance with BRC, HACCP, and other relevant standards.

  • Conduct internal audits and manage external audits (e.g., BRC, DAFM, customer audits).

  • Monitor production processes to ensure quality specifications are consistently met.

  • Investigate and resolve non-conformances, customer complaints, and product recalls as necessary.

  • Train and support staff in quality policies, food safety procedures, and best practices.

  • Liaise with suppliers, farmers, and internal teams to ensure raw material quality meets production standards.

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and food safety awareness throughout the site.

 

Requirements:

  • A degree or relevant qualification in Food Science, Agriculture, Animal Science, or a related field.

  • 2+ years’ experience in a quality role within food production or agriculture-related manufacturing.

  • Strong knowledge of food safety systems such as HACCP, BRCGS, and ISO 22000.

  • Practical understanding of raw materials from an agricultural/farming perspective.

  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and communication abilities.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with quality management software/systems is a plus.
