Job Title: Head of Technical
Location: Monaghan, Ireland
Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Technical to join a dynamic and rapidly growing food manufacturing company in Monaghan. As the Head of Technical, you will play a pivotal role in leading the technical team and ensuring the highest standards of quality, food safety, and compliance across all aspects of the production process. This is a strategic leadership role, ideal for an experienced technical professional with a strong background in food manufacturing, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop the technical team to ensure effective operations across food safety, quality, and compliance.
- Ensure all products are manufactured to meet customer specifications and industry regulations.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of quality management systems, including BRCGS and HACCP.
- Manage the site’s food safety procedures and ensure the site complies with all relevant local and international standards.
- Act as the key point of contact for customer audits, ensuring the facility is audit-ready at all times.
- Collaborate with the Production, R&D, and Supply Chain teams to optimize product quality, efficiency, and safety.
- Provide technical guidance and support to all departments to ensure alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational performance.
- Monitor and report on technical performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as required.
- Drive initiatives to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase productivity while maintaining high standards of quality and food safety.
Essential Criteria:
- Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior technical or quality management role within food manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP, BRCGS, FSAI) and quality management systems.
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all departments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
- Experience with customer and third-party audits is essential (Tesco & M&S)
