Location: Belfast
Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday–Friday (37.5 hours)

Description

We are hiring for our client, a highly regarded pensions and actuarial consultancy, who are seeking a Nearly or Newly Qualified Pensions Actuary to join their growing team in either Belfast or Glasgow.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of actuarial, consulting and advisory work across Defined Benefit pensions, supported by innovative technology and a collaborative, high-performing culture. You will work closely with experienced actuaries, trustees and employers, developing your technical expertise while building strong client relationships.

The Nearly / Newly Qualified Pensions Actuary role is ideal for someone close to qualification or recently qualified who wants exposure, responsibility, and long-term career development within a respected and forward-thinking organisation.

The Role

  • Provide actuarial and consulting advice to trustees and employers of UK pension schemes

  • Support the delivery of Defined Benefit pensions work, including valuations and scheme advice

  • Contribute to integrated actuarial, investment and administration solutions

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across actuarial, trustee and consulting teams

  • Apply actuarial judgement to solve complex client problems

  • Build strong client relationships and deliver a high standard of client service

  • Utilise innovative technology and systems to enhance service delivery

  • Manage workloads effectively and contribute to project delivery

The Person

  • 2:1 or above in a relevant degree

  • Nearly qualified or recently qualified Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries

  • Strong experience in a similar pensions actuarial role

  • Good understanding of UK pensions schemes, legislation and investment principles

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly organised, proactive and comfortable working under pressure

  • Strong Excel and systems capability, with an interest in technology and innovation

  • Team-focused with the ability to manage projects and collaborate effectively

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience with GMP Equalisation calculations

  • Exposure to Risk Transfer projects

  • Practical knowledge of the Pension Protection Fund
