Senior Pensions Administrator (Defined Benefit)
Location: Belfast
Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday–Friday (37.5 hours)
Description
We are hiring for our client, a well-established and highly respected pensions consultancy, who are continuing to grow their Belfast team and are now seeking an experienced Senior Pensions Administrator.
This is a key role for an experienced Defined Benefit (DB) pensions professional who enjoys taking ownership of schemes, delivering a high standard of member service, and supporting the development of junior colleagues. You will play a central role in the day-to-day administration of DB pension schemes, working closely with trustees, advisers, and scheme members.

The Role

Manage and oversee the day-to-day administration of Defined Benefit pension schemes

Act as a key point of contact for scheme members, trustees, and professional advisers

Perform and check complex benefit calculations, including ill-health, divorce, and non-standard cases

Review and authorise work completed by junior team members, providing guidance and support

Ensure all work is completed accurately, on time, and in line with service level agreements

Contribute to scheme projects such as wind-ups, GMP reconciliation exercises, and member communications

Resolve queries proactively and identify opportunities for process improvement

Support business development activities by providing technical input where required
The Person
-
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Defined Benefit pensions administration

Strong technical knowledge of UK pensions legislation, regulations, and scheme rules

Proven experience handling complex benefit calculations and non-standard cases

Experience reviewing and checking the work of junior colleagues

Confident communicator, comfortable dealing with members, trustees, and third parties

Highly organised, proactive, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Desirable (but not essential)

Experience attending trustee or client meetings

Experience mentoring or training less experienced colleagues

Involvement in supporting new business proposals or client pitches
