Job Title: Logistics Engineer - Fixed Term Contract 12 Months

Job Summary
An exciting opportunity for an experienced logistics engineer to join our LPSD team based in Belfast. Working with others across our organisation, you will be directly involved and at the heart of our business, driving continuous improvement, supporting efficiency gain and cost reduction, and participating on strategic projects.
The Logistics Engineer will be responsible for supporting the design and implementation of all related logistics processes, machinery & equipment, storage concepts and Point of Use Design across our facility.
Additional Info
- A University degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or related subject is an essential criteria for this role. Candidates with lesser or no qualifications should have significantly more time served experience in a logistics or manufacturing engineering environment.
- If a candidate was operating at a considerably higher level, we would consider this role at one level higher.
What You Will Do
- Warehouse storage design & manufacturing point-of-use (POU) design
- Machinery & equipment design and procurement
- Workforce & equipment planning
- Design and implement successful logistics solutions, utilizing technical and soft skills.
- Implementing and sustaining significant improvements in internal logistics
- Analysing material flow, creating process maps, and warehouse layout designs
- Work with manufacturing engineers to trial new concepts of material delivery
- Work with quality assurance to maximise handling efficiency whilst maintaining product quality
- Developing working practices and operational policies across different areas such as goods inwards, POU use replenishment and outbound dispatch.
- Developing a plan for every part, monitoring and optimising lineside and material feed processes in and out of the factory.
- Presenting technical logistics information in local and stakeholder meetings.
What You Have

Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products. Level Working Knowledge:
• Assists in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity.
• Uses tools, with guidance, to forecast delivery times, determine costs and assess performance.
Materials Handling and Management: Knowledge of material handling and management in plants; ability to perform, monitor and improve processes related to storage, transportation and handling of raw and hazardous materials. Level Working Knowledge:
• Assists in the responding of and dealing with emergency issues related in materials handling.
• Works with the packaging and storage of inbound or outbound materials.
• Follows procedures to handle hazardous materials, hazardous substances and pollutants.
Problem Management Process - MFG: Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution. Level Working Knowledge:
• Uses a specific discipline or approach to problem solving and resolution.
• Implements the established procedures for handling non-standard or unusual problems.
Warehouse Management: Knowledge of the policies, processes and systems of warehouse management; ability to effectively manage one or more warehouses or distribution centers- Level Working Knowledge:
• Assists in implementing mechanization approaches and techniques in the facility warehouses.
• Collects and translates the business requirements for specifications of warehouse management systems.
Desirable Additional Criteria:
- Experience as logistics engineer or manufacturing engineer
- Strong PC Skills (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, & AutoCAD)
- Knowledge in a warehouse management system e.g. SAP
- Implementation of kitting solutions with manufacturing environments
- Point of Use Design in an industrial Assembly environment
- Plan for Every Part (PFEP)
