Job Summary:

The Engineering R&D Manager is responsible for leading and managing the research and development department. This role involves overseeing the development of innovative products, processes, and technologies to ensure the company remains competitive in the market. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with company goals and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Management:
  • Lead and manage the R&D team, including engineers, scientists, and technicians.
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to the team.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Project Management:
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of R&D projects.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Utilize project management tools and methodologies to track progress and performance.
Innovation and Development:
  • Identify and explore new technologies, materials, and processes.
  • Develop and implement R&D strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Drive the development of prototypes and testing procedures.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with product development, marketing, and manufacturing teams.
  • Communicate R&D findings and progress to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation.
Quality and Compliance:
  • Ensure all R&D activities comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Maintain a high standard of quality in all research and development efforts.
  • Implement and monitor safety protocols in the R&D department.
Budgeting and Resource Allocation:
  • Develop and manage the R&D budget.
  • Allocate resources effectively to maximize productivity and innovation.
  • Monitor expenditures and optimize costs.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
    • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in R&D, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
    • Proven track record of successful product development and innovation.
    • Experience in managing cross-functional teams and complex projects.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
    • Proficiency in R&D methodologies and tools.
