We are hiring for our client, a well-established and growing Food manufacturer, for a Site Technical Manager to oversee and manage all technical aspects of the site’s production operations. The Site Technical Manager will be the go-to person for all food safety, quality, and regulatory matters and will lead a dynamic team to ensure that all products meet the highest standards and exceed customer expectations.

The Role

As the Site Technical Manager, you will:

  • Lead the technical team, ensuring the effective management of food safety and quality standards across the site.
  • Be the point of contact for all technical aspects, including regulatory compliance, HACCP, quality control, and customer specifications.
  • Manage the site’s Quality Management System (QMS), including the implementation of systems to monitor and maintain product consistency.
  • Take ownership of all technical documentation, ensuring it meets the necessary standards and is accurate for all production runs.
  • Coordinate external audits (BRC, customer audits) and ensure corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the management of product specifications, raw material sourcing, and supplier approval, ensuring they meet the highest food safety and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety legislation (DAFM, HACCP, BRC), and update systems in line with customer and industry requirements.
  • Lead and manage the continuous improvement process, driving initiatives that will improve food safety, reduce waste, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop and deliver training and development plans for the technical team to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Work closely with other departments (Production, Purchasing, R&D, and Logistics) to ensure seamless coordination of technical requirements.
  • Actively contribute to all operational meetings, helping the site achieve its production and quality targets.

The Person

  • Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in managing technical operations within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRC standards, and other relevant food safety legislation.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a technical team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to overcoming production challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with various departments.
  • Experience managing audits, certifications, and regulatory compliance.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for driving high standards of quality and food safety.
  • Experience in managing supplier relationships and handling technical queries.
