Job Title: Night Shift Manager
Description
We are hiring for our client, a well-established food manufacturing business, who are seeking an experienced Night Shift Manager to lead nightshift operations across production, quality, safety, and efficiency.
The Night Shift Manager will take full responsibility for managing Health & Safety, product quality, operational efficiency, and Good Manufacturing Practices during the nightshift. This is a key leadership role, ensuring production runs smoothly while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, legality, and consistency.
The successful Night Shift Manager will work closely with Quality, Purchasing, and Engineering functions, while leading teams on the production floor to deliver daily targets and minimise waste.

The Role

Manage daily production processes to ensure efficiency targets are achieved on each shift.

Ensure all products are prepared and produced in line with specifications and quality standards.

Maintain Health & Safety, food safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices across the nightshift.

Control ingredient and packaging flow, ensuring yield targets are met and waste is minimised.

Maintain excellent housekeeping standards, operating a “clean as you go” approach at all times.

Liaise with Quality, Purchasing, and other departments to meet service and production targets.

Provide clear production and performance reports to the Manufacturing Manager.

Report maintenance, structural, or equipment issues promptly to senior management.

Ensure all production and quality paperwork is completed accurately each shift.

Train, monitor, and support new and existing nightshift staff.

Provide first-line support to operatives to prevent bottlenecks and downtime.

Ensure correct ingredient rotation, batch coding, and use-by-date compliance.

Verify washroom operations and production records daily.

Support additional activities such as sampling, extra cleaning, trials, or ad-hoc requests from Production and Quality Management.
The Person

Experience in a supervisory or management role within food manufacturing or FMCG.

Strong understanding of HACCP and food safety principles.

Knowledge of GMP and quality-led production environments.

Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced nightshift operation.

Strong attention to detail, particularly around quality, paperwork, and compliance.

Organised, punctual, and reliable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Confident communicator who can work effectively with production teams and other departments.
