Description
We are hiring for our client who is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior FPGA Developer to join their R&D team based in Larne, NI. This role is ideal for a highly skilled engineer with a strong background in FPGA-based system design, image processing algorithms, and embedded microcontroller SoC architectures. The Senior FPGA Developer will play a key role in end-to-end FPGA design and process development, from architecture definition to deployment, while also leading hardware verification and testing to deliver robust, high-performance solutions.

The Role
-
Design, implement, and optimise FPGA solutions for image and video processing pipelines using 3rd party IP and bespoke components

Develop FPGA-based architectures integrating microcontrollers, high-speed interfaces, image processing IP blocks and memory subsystems

Translate system-level requirements into efficient, synthesisable HDL designs with design/IP reuse in mind

Implement and optimise signal and image processing algorithms on FPGA platforms

Lead hardware testing, validation, and system integration, including verification strategies and in-system testing

Provide mentorship to junior FPGA engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of FPGA design methodologies
The Person
-
Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (Bachelor’s or Master’s)

Proven track record of delivering FPGA designs in complex digital systems

Proficient in HDL (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog) and FPGA design toolchains (Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or similar)

Strong knowledge of timing closure, simulation, verification, and hardware debugging tools

Experience in image/signal processing algorithms, SoC platforms (Zynq, Stratix, Agilex), and integration of high-speed interfaces desirable
