Job Title: Senior Automation Engineer

We are EXCLUSIVELY hiring for our client, a specialist engineering company based in Craigavon, who are seeking to appoint a Senior Automation Engineer to support ongoing project delivery and customer engagement. This role has become available following a planned team change and offers the right candidate the opportunity to step into a well-rounded position that blends technical automation expertise with hands-on support and customer-facing interaction.
The company specialises in motors, gearboxes, VSDs, soft starts, switchgear, PLCs and HMIs, with automation projects primarily supporting product sales and post-sales service. The successful candidate will work on a variety of interesting projects, including PLC programming, technical support, training, and site commissioning. The Role:
-
Design, program and commission PLC and HMI systems (Hitachi and WEG platforms)

Provide remote and on-site technical support to customers across NI
-
Deliver training and technical guidance on automation products

Support the internal sales and product teams on automation-related projects

Carry out occasional site visits for installations and commissioning (approx. 3–4 times per year)

Contribute to process improvements and support internal knowledge sharing
The Person:
- HND or higher in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or similar.

Time-served background in electrical or controls engineering preferred but not essential.

5+ years’ experience in automation, ideally with PLCs and HMIs
-
Ability to troubleshoot, commission, and support automation systems

Comfortable engaging with customers and supporting sales from a technical perspective
