Reporting to the Design Engineering Manager, you’ll take ownership of complex mechanical design projects from concept to completion

The Role
- Lead mechanical design of custom machinery, robotic cells and automation systems
- Create 3D models, detail drawings and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Manage prototype development, assembly, testing and commissioning
- Present design concepts and reviews to internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with CE marking, ISO and Machinery Directives
- Collaborate across disciplines: electrical, controls and software teams
- Support project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
- Mentor junior engineers and promote design best practices
The Person
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 7+ years’ experience in mechanical design – ideally in automation or robotics
- Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks, Draftsight)
- Experience designing with pneumatics, conveyors, machine vision & robotics
- Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA, FEA and prototyping methods
- Understanding of mechanical/electrical integration & PLC interfaces
