Job Title: Assistant Production Manager
Salary: Up to €50,000
Job Overview:
The Assistant Production Manager plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the production team, ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective manufacturing of high-quality food products. This role works closely with the Production Manager to lead production teams, improve operational processes, ensure compliance with food safety regulations, and meet production KPIs. The ideal candidate will contribute to fostering a positive and high-performing culture while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and during peak periods is essential in this fast-paced FMCG environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Support:
- Assist the Production Manager in planning, organising, and managing daily production schedules to meet targets.
- Monitor production lines, respond to operational challenges, and ensure minimal downtime.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality standards.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure all production activities meet food safety, quality, and customer standards.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate production and compliance documentation as required.
Continuous Improvement and Sustainability:
- Support initiatives to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance processes.
- Promote lean manufacturing practices and sustainability initiatives, including resource efficiency and waste minimisation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Liaise with Procurement, Supply Chain, NPD, and technical teams to align production activities with business needs.
- Monitor raw material availability, highlight shortages, and support communication to prevent production delays.
- Assist in preparing production lines and teams for the launch of new products.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in food science, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field; relevant experience will also be considered.
- 2–4 years’ experience in food production, FMCG, or manufacturing environments.
- Experience in a supervisory, team leader, or junior management role preferred.
- Certification in HACCP or a related food safety program is an advantage.
- Flexibility to work early, late, and weekend shifts as required.
