Job Summary
The CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision parts to exact specifications. This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have experience in precision engineering and be able to interpret complex engineering drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and Operate CNC Machines: Operate CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machines to produce high-precision parts according to work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Programming and Adjustments: Use G-code and other CNC programming languages to set up machines for new parts; make necessary adjustments to machine settings as required.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, CMMs) to ensure they meet strict tolerances and specifications.
- Machine Maintenance: Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues as they arise, reporting any malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Process Optimization: Suggest improvements for machining processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
- Documentation: Complete detailed job and production reports, including time, material, and quality data.
- Health & Safety: Comply with all company health and safety policies, ensuring a safe and clean workspace at all times.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Certificate or diploma in Precision Engineering, Machining, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience operating CNC machines in a precision engineering environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong understanding of CNC programming (experience with [specific software, e.g., FANUC, Siemens, HAAS, or Mastercam] is a plus).
- Familiarity with G-code, M-code, and other relevant programming languages.
- Knowledge of various materials and their properties, especially metals used in precision engineering.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to work to tight tolerances and specifications, with a focus on quality and precision.
- Problem-Solving: Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving machining issues independently.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to [weight, e.g., 25 kg] safely.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
