Job Title:   Manufacturing Planner         Department:   Operations / Supply Chain

            

Reports to:   Director of Operations   

                                          

Function Summary:

The Manufacturing Planner is responsible for creating and maintaining routings and bills of materials within the ERP system, developing, reviewing and maintaining production schedules, constantly review capacity constraints and communicating product build lead-time to the relevant stakeholders. The Manufacturing Planner will be responsible for ensuring job close-out accuracy (materials and labour). The Manufacturing Planner will have a significant impact on the decision making of inventory level stock holding for both manufactured and purchased product. Strong collaboration with operations, engineering and sales is essential in this role.

                                          

Essential Functions/Key Accountabilities:   

1.   Follow direction provided by Director of Operations.

 

2.   Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and equipment as required.

 

3.   Represent the company in a positive manner both internally and externally while adhering to the organizations core values.

 

4.   Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.

 

5.   Responsible for creating Part Master and Engineering Bill of Materials within the ERP system by analyzing engineering drawings.

6.   Responsible for establishing part numbers, maintaining the part number books, and maintaining the ERP part database.

 

7.   Establish routings and bills of materials for manufactured parts.

 

8.   Responsible for processing engineering releases and revisions in the ERP system.

 

9.   Develop formal production plans, schedules and updates as required, minimizing waste and utilizing available capacities.

 

10.   Alongside the Factory Lead, ensure adherence to schedule, proactively addressing any issues impacting upon the plan or sudden shifts in demand.

 

11.   Co-ordinate with other internal functions including but not limited to purchasing, assembly, sales and accounting.

 

12.   Ability to understand and communicate assembly lead-times to Sales and Project Managers.

 

13.   Establish routings and bills of materials for manufactured parts.

 

14.   Create stock and non-stock jobs through the ERP system, monitoring and reporting on all jobs from start to finish.

                                          

Physical Requirements:

This position is typically located in an office setting and requires sitting and standing for long periods of time. The position requires ambulatory skills sufficient to travel domestically. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, visual acuity to use a keyboard, and operate standard office equipment. Requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of both oral and written communication.

Educational/Other Requirements:

1.   Bachelors Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred

 

2.   3-5 yearsrelevant experience.

 

3.   Previous and extensive ERP experience (Epicor preferred).

 

4.   Comprehensive commercial acumen.

 

5.   Computer literacy including MS Office applications.

 

6.   Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

7.   Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

 

8.   Ability to successfully reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
