The Role:
The Purchasing is responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies, tracking metrics to reduce expenses, negotiating deals, and managing vendors / suppliers. They will also drive sustainability initiatives in-house as well as with suppliers.
You will be responsible for the following areas and activities:
- Developing, leading and executing purchasing strategies
- Tracking and reporting KPIs in order to reduce expenses, improve effectiveness and mitigate risks.
- Crafting negotiation strategies and closing deals with optimal terms for AMF and RM
- Forecast key prices and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.
- Perform cost and scenario analysis and benchmarking.
- Source and partner with reliable vendors / suppliers.
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
- Coordination of Origin Green sustainability programme within the business
- Keep up to date with current Irish/EU packaging legislation.
- Liaise with packaging suppliers on sustainability.
- Maintain Valpak portal
- Submit biannually to Repak
- Lead and inspire a team that consists of Goods Inwards personnel and a Stock Controller
The Person:
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will come from a similar background and will be looking for the next challenge in their career. Self-starting and motivated, applicants will also need to satisfy the following:
Criteria:
- Proven experience in a similar role
- Experience of managing a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
- Interest in market dynamics along with business sense (retail a must)
- Good control of negotiations and networking
- Great ability to gather and analyse data, working well with figures, especially in an MS Excel environment.
- Excellent project management and strong organisational skills and a proven ability to balance multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Solid judgment along with decision making skills.
- BS degree in supply chain management, logistics or procurement preferred
