HR Officer

We are recruiting for our client, a successful engineering business in Derry/Londonderry, who are seeking a proactive and people-focused HR Officer to join their team.
This is an exciting, new, stand alone, permanent role (38 hours per week, Monday–Thursday) offering the opportunity to play a pivotal role in HR operations, employee engagement, and talent management across the organisation.

The Role
- Act as a trusted HR advisor for employees and line managers on policies, procedures, compliance, and employment legislation
- Provide employee relations support, addressing queries and assisting with grievance resolution
- Manage recruitment processes end-to-end: drafting job descriptions, sourcing candidates, interviewing, and onboarding
- Promote the organisation as an employer of choice through engagement with schools, agencies, and partners
- Support apprenticeships, graduate programs, training plans, and employee development initiatives
- Manage performance review processes, including probation reviews, and coordinate training plans
- Lead employee engagement initiatives, including the ‘We are FAST’ team
- Maintain HR records, prepare contracts, correspondence, and ensure accurate HR system data
- Administer employee benefits, payroll support, and offboarding processes
- Analyse HR metrics and provide reports to senior management
The Person
- 3rd level qualification in HR or relevant discipline
- Minimum 2-3 years’ HR generalist experience
- CIPD Level 3 or above desirable
- Knowledge of HR policies, employment legislation, and best practice
- Proficient in HR systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience in manufacturing/engineering/production desirable
- Full clean driving licence
