Junior Manufacturing Engineer – 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract
Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland
Salary: £30,000 + bonus and benefits
Work Schedule: 4-day week, Monday to Thursday
Contract: 12 month fixed-term contract, with strong likelihood of extension or permanent opportunity
The Opportunity
We are hiring for our client, a globally recognised and secure employer, who is seeking a Junior Manufacturing Engineer to join their Belfast site on an initial 12 month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate, or someone in the early stages of their manufacturing engineering career, to gain hands-on experience within a high-performing manufacturing environment. You’ll be joining a supportive engineering team where you’ll receive exposure to production processes, continuous improvement, problem-solving, tooling, process changes and new product introduction. While this is initially a fixed-term contract, there is a strong likelihood of extension and potential to become permanent.

The Role
As a Junior Manufacturing Engineer, you will support the engineering and production teams across a range of manufacturing activities, including:

Supporting production lines to help achieve key KPIs across Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost

Assisting with process improvements across assembly and manufacturing operations

Supporting New Product Introduction projects and engineering change activity

Helping with problem-solving, Root Cause Corrective Action and continuous improvement projects

Working with senior engineers on tooling, equipment and process improvement projects

Supporting line balancing, workflow improvements and manufacturing efficiency
-
Assisting with Bill of Materials, routings and manufacturing documentation
-
Applying Lean Manufacturing and Design for Manufacture principles where appropriate
- Working closely with production, quality, supply chain and engineering teams
The Person
This role would suit a recent graduate or junior engineer who is keen to develop within a global manufacturing environment.
You will ideally have:

A degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline

Placement, internship or early career experience within manufacturing, production or engineering would be beneficial
-
A strong interest in manufacturing processes, continuous improvement and problem-solving
-
Good communication skills and a hands-on approach

Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, APQP or RCCA would be advantageous but not essential

Experience with 3D CAD software would be beneficial

Familiarity with SAP, MRP or ERP systems would be helpful but not required
The Rewards

Salary of £30,000
