The Role:

As the Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Occupational Health & Safety Management: Maintaining and improving the site’s health and safety management system in line with ISO 45001, Group standards, and legislation.
  • Incident and Accident Management: Leading investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions for incidents and accidents.
  • Performance Monitoring: Defining and reporting on H&S KPIs, and delivering measurable improvement plans.
  • Risk Assessment and Compliance: Ensuring risk assessments are completed and reviewed, and leading audit programmes.
  • Contractor Management: Overseeing contractor H&S standards, onboarding, and monitoring.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Acting as the key contact for regulatory authorities and coordinating site inspections.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Developing and testing emergency response arrangements.
  • Operational Support: Providing day-to-day support on risk mitigation and statutory compliance.
  • Training and Culture: Supporting H&S training delivery and promoting a strong safety culture.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will have:

Essential:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing health and safety in a food manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of UK and NI Health and Safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Proven people-management experience.
  • A relevant third-level qualification and NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of SMETA and ethical trading standards.
  • Previous operational experience in the food manufacturing sector.
  • Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards this accreditation.
