Hunter Savage, a specialist recruitment consultancy with deep sector expertise across the Built Environment, are hiring for our client — a leading civil engineering and groundworks contractor delivering complex, high-value infrastructure projects across the UK, Ireland, and mainland Europe.
This Commercial Manager position is a senior leadership opportunity based in Co. Down, offering full ownership of the commercial function. The successful Commercial Manager will protect margin, manage risk, and ensure a commercially robust approach across all projects and regions. Working from head office, the Commercial Manager will lead the QS and commercial teams while partnering closely with Operations and Finance to support informed decision-making from tender through to final account.

The Role:
- Take full commercial responsibility across live and tendered projects
- Lead, mentor, and develop the QS and commercial team
- Provide commercial input into tenders, pricing strategy, and risk reviews
- Control CVIs, variations, claims, and final accounts
- Oversee subcontract procurement and commercial compliance
- Deliver cashflow forecasting and reporting to senior leadership
- Conduct contractual reviews and manage dispute resolution
- Build strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners
- Ensure consistency of commercial standards across multiple regions
The Person:
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
- 10+ years’ experience within civil engineering or groundworks
- Strong knowledge of UK, Irish, and European contract forms
- Proven leadership capability with a collaborative style
- Commercially astute, confident in negotiation, and solutions-focused
- High attention to detail with strong reporting skills
