Mechanical Design Engineer

An excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing organisation operating in the mobile machinery and equipment sector. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical systems and assemblies, supporting products from concept through to full production.

The Role:

• Design and develop mechanical systems and assemblies for mobile machinery and related equipment
• Produce 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials
• Support product development from concept design through prototyping, testing and production release
• Carry out design calculations, tolerance analysis and basic structural and mechanical assessments
• Support prototype builds, trials and validation activities
• Investigate and resolve design, quality and manufacturing issues
• Work closely with production, purchasing and suppliers to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost effective
• Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement activities
• Support engineering change requests and product updates
• Ensure designs comply with relevant machinery standards and safety requirements

The Person:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing, machinery or heavy equipment environment
• Strong 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor or similar)
• Good understanding of mechanical systems such as fabricated structures, hydraulics and drivetrain components
• Experience producing detailed drawings and technical documentation
