We are hiring for our client, a key organisation at the centre of Northern Ireland’s energy transformation, for the role of Future Power Markets Development Manager. Based in Belfast with hybrid working (3 days in office, 2 remote), this role presents a unique opportunity to drive strategic market innovation and support the decarbonisation of the electricity sector.
As Future Power Markets Development Manager, you will lead a high-performing team to identify and develop forward-looking market strategies, manage emerging technology integration, and shape the future of power market design in Northern Ireland.

The Role
As Future Power Markets Development Manager, you will:
• Lead the delivery of key strategic market development programmes aligned with net zero goals
• Manage a team of senior analysts supporting future market strategy and transformation
• Develop a robust pipeline of market innovation projects, including renewable integration, green hydrogen, and hybrid storage
• Create commercial frameworks to enable market entry for new technologies
• Lead stakeholder engagement across regulators, technology providers, and policy influencers
• Oversee team development, resource allocation, and knowledge progression
• Contribute to route-to-market strategy and advocate for policy development to enable system transformation
• Stay ahead of technological trends and proactively embed them into market design
The Person
To succeed in this Future Power Markets Development Manager role, you’ll bring:
• A relevant third-level qualification with at least 8 years’ experience in energy project development or a similar role
• Strong leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary teams
• Demonstrated expertise in developing policy-driven or regulated market projects
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and reporting skills
• Strategic and analytical thinking with a problem-solving approach
• A track record of delivering in fast-paced, collaborative environments
Desirable (not essential):
• Knowledge of the Irish SEM or European power market operations
• Familiarity with RESS, LDES, and regulatory mechanisms
• Experience in forward-looking market or decarbonisation strategy
• Awareness of electricity market codes and network regulatory obligations
