We are hiring for our client, a leading and highly respected energy provider, to recruit an Graduate Electrical Engineer for a structured 2-year development programme. This Graduate Electrical Engineer role offers a genuinely standout opportunity to begin your career within a major power generation environment where engineers build long-term, rewarding careers.
From the outset, you will gain hands-on, site-based experience across Kilroot and Ballylumford Power Stations, working alongside highly experienced engineers on critical infrastructure. The Role:
As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you will:
• Support the planning and execution of major outages across both sites
• Assist in delivering key electrical engineering improvement projects
• Take ownership of defined work packages, including contractor coordination
• Develop and maintain criticality assessments for plant systems
• Contribute to spares strategies and lifecycle management planning
• Ensure compliance with engineering and safety standards (DSEAR, MOC, etc.)
• Support fault finding, investigations, and root cause analysis
• Be involved in testing, commissioning, and return-to-service activities
• Work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams on live plant
This is a hands-on role where you will be out on site, learning directly from experienced engineers and gaining exposure to real operational challenges from day one.
The Person:
• Degree (or expected Summer 2026) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Strong interest in power systems, high-voltage engineering, or heavy industry
• Keen to work in a hands-on, site-based engineering environment
• Full UK driving licence (or working towards)
• Placement or project experience in a relevant area (desirable)
• Logical, structured problem solver with strong attention to detail
• Strong communicator who enjoys working as part of a team
• Proactive, reliable, and eager to build a long-term engineering career
