Job Title: Senior Automation Engineer

Description:
We are exclusively hiring for our client, a forward-thinking and growing engineering business currently expanding their automation capability. As part of their continued investment, they are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to support a range of factory-based projects, delivering practical and efficient automation solutions across multiple sites.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on, site-focused work, while still having exposure to design, programming, and system improvement projects.
Top 3 Things to Know About this Job:
- £50,000 – £60,000 + company van (depending on experience)
- Primarily factory-based role with local travel
- Hybrid working available (2 days from home) after successful onboarding period
The Role:
- Deliver automation projects across multiple manufacturing sites, primarily factory-based
- Work across the full project lifecycle – design, development, testing, commissioning and handover
- Program and modify PLC systems (Siemens TIA Portal and Allen-Bradley / RSLogix)
- Support ongoing improvements, upgrades and fault-finding on existing systems
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams and production to drive efficiency and minimise downtime
- Attend sites as required (company van provided), with many systems accessible remotely
- Manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
The Person:
- Third level qualification in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering or similar
- 5+ years’ experience in an automation or controls environment
- Strong PLC experience (Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley preferred)
- Experience with HMI, SCADA and industrial networking desirable
- Comfortable working in a factory/manufacturing environment
- Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach
- Full driving licence required
The Rewards:
- Salary between £50,000 – £60,000 depending on experience
- Company van provided for site travel
