Job Title: Automation Engineer (Food Manufacturing Environment)

Description: We are hiring for our client, a leading food manufacturing company, who is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer. This is a pivotal role where you will support and develop the site-wide process control system. You will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and updating PLC hardware and software to ensure the site's operational efficiency and adherence to corporate standards. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation technology in a fast-paced production environment, ensuring process integrity and supporting manufacturing operations.

The Role:

• Ownership and maintenance of site-wide process control systems.
• Design, update, and commission new and existing PLC hardware and software.
• Lead the effective use of SCADA and MES data to support operations.
• Prepare Functional Design Specifications and ensure best practices for system security and backups.
• Conduct fault diagnosis and troubleshooting on process control systems.
• Provide training for maintenance personnel on process control systems.

The Person:

• Essential – Third-level qualification with extensive software programming and engineering training.
• Desirable – Degree qualified in Electrical/Electronic/Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong PLC programming skills across multiple manufacturers, with hands-on experience in PID control loops, Profibus, Ethernet IP systems, and HMI networks.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, a self-motivated attitude, and the ability to engage others effectively.
• Adaptable to both long and short-term changes in a high-pressure environment.
