Job Title: Hygiene Maintenance Manager

Department: Hygiene

Hours of work: 17:00pm - 1:30am

Hours: 40 hours per week

Role Overview
Our client is a leading supplier of fresh and chilled food products to top UK retailers. They are seeking a Hygiene Maintenance Manager to join their established hygiene team. Reporting directly to the Hygiene Department Manager, this role is critical for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of manufacturing equipment throughout the hygiene cycle and in preparation for shift commencement.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Take a leading role in the breakdown and rebuild of equipment during the cleaning cycle.

  • Manage the daily maintenance operations within the hygiene department, including scheduling, troubleshooting, and repairs.

  • Build, lead, and develop a team of Hygiene Maintenance Technicians, ensuring high performance at all times.

  • Work closely with the Hygiene Manager to ensure that all equipment maintenance complies with internal and stakeholder audit standards.

  • Liaise with the Maintenance department and attend weekly Hygiene/Maintenance meetings.

  • Contribute to the development of new equipment projects with a focus on hygiene maintenance requirements (e.g., ease of cleaning, reducing foreign body risks).

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and teamwork within the hygiene department.

  • Identify and implement improvements in hygiene maintenance processes.

  • Ensure all hygiene maintenance activities comply with H&S policies, HSENI guidelines, and environmental regulations.

  • Mentor, train, and support the wider hygiene team, encouraging a culture of excellence.

  • Participate in internal meetings to maintain the highest standards of hygiene operations.

  • Support the delivery of employee wellbeing initiatives.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues across all levels of the business.

  • Ensure food safety compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, staying audit-ready at all times.

 

Essential:

  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • At least 2 years of experience working with mechanical equipment

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications

  • Strong leadership, time management, and organizational skills

  • Proven experience in supervising and leading a team

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with individuals at all levels
